 Week Sept. 21
We will have the same reading story next week and will just move all of our tests and activities to next week also.  We will have no tests on Friday.  The social studies test will be next Tuesday.
Farm City Poster Contest information is going home today.  This will be a social studies grade.  The posters are due Oct.20th.
Math chapter 2 test Wednesday.  Study guides will go home tomorrow.
Our monthly birthday party will be Friday.  They don’t need lunch but will need a drink.
Homework:
Read every night for at least 20 min.

Tu.- math study
W- spelling – write a sentence with each word

I was not aware that some parents were not getting the study guides and notes that have been sent home before each test.  I will continue to send the study guide with reading story, vocabulary words and spelling words each Monday.  If your child doesn’t bring one home, please let me know and I will send a copy to the office for you to pick up.  Instead of a study guide for the other subjects, I will post the pages or chapter to study on the blog.  Students will also no longer be responsible for writing homework assignments.  I will also post these to the blog each day.
After consulting with our local EMA Director, we have decided to cancel all classes and activities for Wednesday. All after school activities, including after school care, will be cancelled for tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather to determine plans for Thursday. Please continue to check social media and local news sources.

* Please send $5 for the birthday party this month.  We will be having a party for the students who have birthdays each month.  We will have pizza and a dessert.  I will let you know the date of the party as they won’t need lunch on that day.
* As we have many homecoming activities on Friday, we will have our reading and spelling tests on Thursday this week
*  Social Studies vocabulary test on Wednesday.  I will post the words to study.
* Students can purchase a Chick fil a biscuit each Friday for $3
*AISA state reading contest information will be sent home this week.

Pike Liberal Arts School Homecoming 2020 Schedule of Events

Patriot families,

We want to share the scheduled events for Homecoming 2020.  Covid-19 has impacted the way we do everything at school, celebrations included.  However, we are excited to be able to keep some of our traditions the same this year.  

September 10th-11th, 2020: Homeroom Door Decorating Contest:

Each homeroom will be decorating their class room door in preparation for homecoming week.  Doors will be judged by a committee and winners will be announced at the pep rally on Friday, September 18th.  

September 14th – 18th, 2020:  Dress up Days:

Thursday, September 17, 2020:

Glow in the Dark Rally – There will be two shows, 5:30 and 7:30, with a limit of 250 fans per session.  This will allow us to spread our audience members apart.  Masks will be required.  Tickets should be bought at school, and a time selection must be made at the time of purchase.

Friday

Homecoming Assembly, Dwight Ward Field – 9:00 am; High school students, parents and grandparents of seniors and homecoming attendants only.  Masks required.

Pep Rally, Dwight Ward Field – 11:00 am; PLAS student body and parents of football players, cheerleaders and band members, only.  Masks required.

School is dismissed at 12 noon.

Kickoff PLAS vs. Edgewood Academy, Dwight Ward Field – 7 pm

Presentation of 2020 Homecoming Queen and Court – Halftime of game

Important Things to Remember

Orders for Homecoming Mums are due to Jean’s Flowers by September 14th.

During break and lunch September 14th-18th at the SGA Table:

Student game tickets will be sold for $5

Vote for Homecoming King 

Purchase a chance to have a picture taken with your favorite player or cheerleader for 25 cents (elementary students will buy those in class).

Glow in the Dark Tickets will be sold for $5 (you must choose which show to attend, as  the tickets will be different for each show)

Welcome to third grade!

Some information about our class routines:

Reading vocabulary quiz will be given every Wednesday.

Reading and Spelling tests will be on Friday.

Math tests will be given at the end of each chapter and they will bring home a study guide.

There will be notes to study for science and social studies and you will be informed before tests.

Papers will be sent home on Wednesday.  Please sign and return the next day.
