Week of May 17 – 21 – We are walking to Hook’s BBQ on Tuesday, May 18, for our AR reward for the 3rd nine weeks. Please return permission slips in the morning.
REMINDER to parents – There is a waiver you will need to sign in order for your child to participate at Xtreme Air tomorrow. Please go to www.xtremeairtrampoline.com to sign the waiver. We will be leaving school at 9:30 a.m.
Students will need to bring snack & lunch from home next week (May 24 & 25). The cafeteria will be closed.

Week of February 8 -12 – We are planning a Valentine’s party for Friday. You will find information about our plans for Friday in your child’s folder.

Week of February 1 – 5 – You will find an order form for the JV Basketball championship T-shirt in your child’s folder today. You will also find information for the SchoolStore fundraiser.
Basketball pictures for grades 1-6 will be made Thursday, Feb. 4, beginning at 9:30. Please wear your basketball shirt and shorts. Individual and team pictures will be made.

December 18 – A special thanks to all of you for the wonderful gifts I received for Christmas! I love all of them. I am so thankful to be home again at Pike with this GREAT group of students! Enjoy your break and have a Merry Christmas. We will return to school on January 4, 2021.
December 14 – 18 – Report card grades will be posted Friday at noon. We will be watching The Polar Express on Tuesday. The students may wear pajamas. We will have our class Christmas party on Wednesday. School will dismiss on Friday , December 18 at 12:00 for the Christmas break. We will return to school on January 4, 2021.
December 7 – 11 – The cut off for AR is Friday, December 11. Please read your AR books and test.
Our class Christmas party is Wednesday, December 16. The students decided on the activities for the party. Each student needs to bring a gift. The girls will bring a gift for a girl and boys bring a gift for a boy. The price range for gifts is $10- $15. Each student signed up to bring a food item for the party.
Reminder – School will dismiss for the Christmas holidays on December18 at 12:00.
November 30- December 4 – We will have our November/December birthday party on Thursday, Dec. 3. Please send $4 by Wednesday.
We are participating in a calendar fundraiser to help the cheerleaders compete at nationals. Our class will be featured for the month of July. The picture will be taken Monday, December 7. Please wear red, white, and blue on Monday. You may also bring a prop for the Fourth of July like a flag, streamer, hat , or anything symbolic of the Fourth of July. Thank you!!!

November 2 -6 -Thanks to all the parents for sending the special treats for our birthday/Halloween party last Friday. We had a great time!
Each class will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. We only have 1 shoebox to fill this year. The shipping is $9, and I will cover that cost. We are asking that each student bring in items to help fill the box. I would like to have these completed by Monday, November 9.
Dress up theme for Friday is dress as your favorite event in 2020.
October 26-30 – We will have our Halloween/October Birthday party on Friday, October 30. We will have a normal lunch for the day. We are not ordering pizza. Students will bring in snacks and candy for the afternoon party. I have them to let me know what they want to bring by tomorrow.
We are planning a lunch reward for both 5th grade classes for having 100% make their AR goal!! We will let you know as soon as we have more details.
The dress up theme for this Friday is Halloween costumes. This is the last regular season football game. Masks to cover your face or weapons will not be allowed.
October 19 – 23 – Homecoming Week! I sent a list of homecoming activities and dress days in the folder yesterday. We will dismiss at 12:00 on Friday. If you have old Pike football pictures we could use to decorate our door, please send a copy by Thursday.
We had 100% of our class make their AR goal!!!!

Week of January 6 – 10 – We return to school on January 6, 2020. The annual PLAS deer hunt is January 10 -12.
Week of December 16 – 19 – First, I would like to thank our parents for helping with the field trip and our Christmas party last week. We had a great time! Also, I want to thank everyone for all the nice gifts you gave me. I am so happy to be back home at Pike, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday!

January 6, 2020- Students return to school
January 10 -12 – Deer Hunt – They are asking for a $15 donation per family to help with the cost of meals. Also, volunteers are need to bake homemade cakes. Cakes should be brought to the school on January 9 and 10.
Week of December 9 -13 – Our class Christmas party is Friday, December 13. The students decided on the activities for the party. We are going to play Dirty Santa. Each student needs to bring a gift for the game (girls bring a girl gift/boys bring a boy gift). The price range is $10 – $15. We will have pizza for lunch, and each student signed up to bring a food for the party.
Reminder- The field trip to Dothan is Thursday. Students will need to bring extra money for lunch after the performance. We plan to leave school at 8:00.

We need parents to work a 30 minute shift at the Fall Festival on October 29. The time of the shifts will be 6:00 – 6:30, 6:30 – 7:00, 7:00 – 7:30, and 7:30 – 8:00. If you have prizes to donate, please send these in ASAP. Baked items need to be brought in Tuesday, October 29. Thank You!

I am sending home information about Homecoming today. These pages cover Dress Up Days, Family Tailgate, Parade, and other events. Grandparent’s Day Program is September 6 at 11:00. Students may check out after the program.
Students may enter a design for the homecoming t-shirt contest. August 30 is the last day to turn in your design. The winner will receive $50 and a free T-shirt. The theme is Past, Present Pike.

Week of Feb. 25 – March 1 – The field trip for the Classroom in the Forest is March 6. We do this every year at the Renfroe Farms on the Henderson Hwy. in Troy. We plan to take the school bus. Let me know if you would like to go with us. The permission form is in the folder today. Please complete and return the form to me.
Friday, March 1 school will dismiss at noon for the baseball tournament.

The “Pennies for Patients/Leukemia & Lymphoma collection is underway. A collection box was sent home in folders last week. Feb. 22 is the last day to turn in donations.

The field to Dothan to ‘Santa’s Workshop” is this Friday. Drivers need to send a copy of their insurance card and driver’s license in by Wednesday. The office must have a copy of this information.

We are planning a field trip to Santa’s Workshop in Dothan on Friday, November 30. I have drivers for the trip. The cost will be $10.00 per person. We will be sending more information on the trip. If your child will not be attending, please let me know.

Week of Oct. 29 – Nov. 2 – We will have a Halloween party at lunch Tuesday. Please send $3 to order pizza. Students may also bring in candy or snacks. Students need to bring a drink or buy a drink in the lunchroom.
Reminder**- The Veteran’s Day program has been moved to November 2. We are practicing this week.. Please remind your child to learn their part. Each student has a part in the program. The program will be at 9:15. Dress for students will be red, white, and/or blue. The students have invitations they may give to a Veteran they would like to invite to the program.
The Fall Festival will be Tuesday night from 6:00 – 8:00. If you will be able to work a 30 minute shift, please let me know. Also, if you have any baked items or items to sell at the Country Store, please send these in tomorrow. I have Beth Steed working a shift from 6:30 -7:00; Jennifer Deloney 7:00-7:30; and Amanda Pyron 6:00-6:30.

Week of October 15-19 – I will be sending information for the Farm-City Poster Contest in the folders on Monday. The posters are due Friday, October 19. This activity is optional, but I would love for students in our class to participate. In the past, we have had several winners. Winners will receive a cash prize and be recognized on the field at Troy University’s football game on November 17th.
Theme for the game this week- “Move Back the Mustangs”. Dress from a different decade. **Update** Friday has been declared “Pink Out” day. Wear your Pink t-shirts.

Hurricane Florence Relief Effort – Items to support the victims in North and South Carolina may be turned in to the front office. Items include: canned goods, toiletries, baby food/diapers, hygiene items, pet food, first aid items, bottled water, cleaning supplies, trash bags/latex gloves. The collection will end Friday, October 5.
Theme for Friday, October 5- “Fire up for Fort Dale”. Wear red on Friday.

Week of September 24-28 – Homecoming week – I sent home all the information about homecoming last week in folders. School will dismiss at 12:00 Friday, September 28. Reminders for dress: Monday Texas, Tuesday California, Wednesday New York, Thursday homecoming t-shirt, and Friday – red, white, & blue. I still have 3 students that need to send the $5.00 for the float. You should have gotten a Group Me message from the parent group about the float and student characters. Each student signed up for a “New York” character for the parade. If you did not, please let us know, and you will be added to the group.

The SGA blood drive is Monday, September 17 from 9:00- 2:30.
Week of September 10-14 – Discount cards were sent home last Thursday. Each family is asked to sell 2 cards.
Order forms for homecoming t-shirts were sent home on Wednesday, 9-12. Orders must be returned by Monday, 9-17.
Theme for game on 9-14- “Not Tonight, Knights” -dress in pjs – all pjs must be 2 piece sets. No slippers allowed.

Week of August 27-31 – Folders will be sent home on Monday with graded papers from the previous week. Please sign and return folders no later than Wednesday of each week. Also, please sign a paper with a grade of 70 or below.
We are taking orders for the PLAS Prayer Warriors T-Shirts (Shirts seem to run small in size).
Week of August 20-24 – Reminders- This week’s dress up theme is “There’s so much to LOVE about PLA”. Dress as your favorite football player or cheerleader.
